Chris goes to the River

At first, you just hear some water bubbling, but you can't place it. Then, as you get a little further down the slope, you start to see tiny streams of water, no bigger than your finger.

Soon there is enough water to make small pools and brooks.

Even in these small pools, life exists. This is a close up, showing a few tadpoles. (There were also plenty of mosquitoes).

Now the brooks merge into what finally looks like a river. Eventually, there is enough water flow to scour away the grass and topsoil, so the water flows over bare rock.

Sometimes there are waterfalls.

The river flows into some larger ponds. This one was about 20 meters across and half a meter deep. It looked very refreshing, but it was extremely cold.

By the bottom of the mountain, the water has become a torrent.
